Seeking Out the Lost and Those That Strayed
There are many circumstances in life that could potentially lead to someone embracing a destructive path. There is no judgment concerning the choices that sometimes we have to take in order to make it through a day, month, or year. Regardless of the circumstances that we all face, there is still time to turn from our ways that prevent us from being with the LORD.
When circumstances occur and there seems to be no way back, the LORD finds a way to call his people home. An example would include the splitting of Israel in two separate nations after the reign of King Solomon. Israel would split into the northern kingdom and the southern kingdom. Even when this was happening, the LORD decided that he would keep the southern kingdom as a remnant.
When the Israelites were scattered throughout the world prior to the creation of the state of Israel, the LORD had promised that He would return them back home.
“For thus says the LORD GOD: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness.” – Ezekiel 34: 11-12
This may be taken in multiple interpretations. The interpretation which I think also holds true or even more so is that the LORD is calling on all his children regardless if they are Jewish or Gentile to return to him. He wants all of us to share in his kingdom and in His peace.
For this reason, the LORD wants everyone to come back home. The spiritual home that will have a specific new creation. When a sheep is scattered it does not know where it is or whom to follow. As humans there are times when circumstances and events cause us to be scattered and feel like where is the next place to turn. We are able to find comfort in His ability to lead and to take us to where we need to go.
