Seeking The LORD’s Peace

There is a saying that states something like, “Know Jesus, Know Peace.”

It is a very simple saying that carries a lot of meaning behind those four words. The first point is that when we follow the LORD and the will of the LORD, we obtain a peace that is not of this world. The peace that we find is from the LORD. There are several passages in the Holy Bible which relate to the importance of walking in his commandments and being able to experience a peace that surpasses all understanding.

The second point is that there is another saying that goes along with the first saying. The second part of the saying takes out the “k” and “w” out of know and leave “no”. If we do not have Jesus and do not follow his commandments, then it is difficult to experience the peace of the LORD. We are able to understand completely that this peace is not something that we ourselves can attain by simply exercising or by relaxing. It is something completely different and more significant.

Psalm 34 mentions the word peace in its verses.

“Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” – Psalm 34: 13-14

Also Psalm 35 continues with the same theme and mentions the word peace this time showing those that do not like peace.

“For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they devise words of deceit.” – Psalm 35: 20

It is important to keep the LORD’s words in mind as we understand that we are able to fully experience peace when we follow his commandments and not stray from his word.
