The Greatness of the LORD

It is difficult not to give thanks to the LORD for having created us and allowing us the ability to learn each day something new about life, ourselves, other people, and understand the greatness of the LORD. While there are some situations that are not positive, it is important to fix our eyes towards the LORD and see that everything can have a purpose and meaning.

David is able to describe the beauty in the creation of the LORD. I find it interesting to note that David is able to describe deep concepts in Psalm 104 about the beauty of the world that the LORD created. He is able to describe in great detail the way the LORD is mighty and powerful and how his creation shows the beauty that He intended for us to see.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my GOD, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.” – Psalm 104: 1-2

When we begin to understand the greatness of the LORD and the beauty in the creation, we begin to bless our LORD. There is so much beauty and details that we are unable to grasp or understand all at once. The clothing of the LORD is described as full of splendor and majesty and light. There is no darkness but light. He lights up our darkness. When we need light, the LORD is able to provide it. If we are feeling anxious or depressed, the LORD is able to bring light through the darkness. If there is a feeling of darkness inside of us, there is the LORD ready to provide light in us through Him.

David was able to see these specific qualities and characteristics of the creation as well as describe in detail the amount of glory that fills the dwelling and creation of the LORD.

“The mountains rose, the valleys sunk down to the place that you appointed for them.” – Psalm 104: 8

Creation is under the subjection and control of our LORD. As seen in the way hills and mountains are formed and created, the LORD decides how they are made. The LORD is Holy and great. This Psalm relates to the wonderful creation and the story of Genesis which demonstrates how the LORD created the Heavens, Earth, and humankind.

There is a purpose in the creation of the LORD. He created with a purpose as He makes the seasons with a purpose and the landscape with a purpose.
