Steadfast Love and Our Belief
“Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” – Psalm 33: 20-22
When there is so much change in little time, it makes for dizzying perceptions. Nothing may make sense one day or for weeks or even for a longer amount of time when there is a change. However, we are reminded that we are not supposed to focus on this. What we are to focus on is the faithfulness and steadfast love of the LORD. Our belief in the LORD should be enough to allow us to understand that even when there is change or there is something we do not understand, that we pay attention to the will and steadfast love of our Savior.
While there is change, there is also the steadfastness of the love of the LORD. To maintain steadfastness means to continue regardless of the circumstances, difficulties, or situations. The LORD’s steadfast love is a love that endures and does not falter. Even when we are weak or depleted, we are reminded that his steadfast love endures. Our faith in the LORD is enough to move mountains and to heal. His healing is able to change us from what we were to what we can become. No amount of hurt, pain, dissatisfaction, envy, hatred, disbelief, or misunderstanding is bigger than the steadfast love that remains and that will remain in eternity. This is not to make light of the amount of burdens that are accumulated. Yet it is not the burden that should be the primary point of focus, it is the ability to receive the steadfast love of the LORD that drowns out the pain and sorrows of yesterday.
No matter how much we have been hurt, been misunderstood, slandered, lied to, betrayed, rejected, ridiculed, gas-lighted, humiliated, or pained, it does not compare to the restoration that the LORD provides to all who decide to accept His love. Love you brothers and sisters!
