Rejecting Non-Constructive Criticism
“Do not take to heart all the things that people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you. Your heart knows that many times you yourself have cursed others.” – Ecclesiastes 7:21-22
Some words are said and cannot be taken back. Some words can cause hurt even when mentioned without the intention of causing harm. This is why we must be able to not pay attention to hateful words that come against us. There have been times when we ourselves have had negative comments addressed to people.
We are able to understand that most of these words are not said with the intention of hurting or causing pain, but are said due to frustration or anger. This does not justify the reason for stating them but create an understanding of why they are said. Just as we have stated things against other people, so other people will state things as well.
So we must not pay attention because we know that there are other things happening that we may not be aware of.
