Isaiah’s Persistence Against Idolatry
“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth!
For I am GOD, and there is no other.” – Isaiah 45:22
GOD makes it known to his people that we must turn to Him alone to be made whole. There are no other alternatives or substitutions for the importance of GOD. There are no other ways to GOD but through the faith and devotion to GOD. The GOD of Isaac, Abraham, and Joseph, the GOD of Israel, the Most High, GOD the Father.
There were instances in the Old Testament when Israel made the error of straying from GOD at multiple times in its history and struck itself. When Israel decided to change from practicing idolatry to being saved, Israel was once again accepted by GOD. It is important to be able to care about our salvation through GOD.
To contrast the real salvation, there were times when Israel was tempted to go after idols. They decided to lose their identity by going after the idols of Babylon. While many believed in the power of the idols, GOD tells us the truth about the fate of those who follow after worthless pursuits.
“They stoop; they bow down together;
they cannot save the burden,
but themselves go into captivity.” – Isaiah 46:2

Those who live for idols and sacrifice their time, effort, and their worship are bound to be affected by the idols. We need to not care about idols because they take away the worship that is only for GOD. We break the first commandment but even worse, we actively choose things that are worthless instead of what is worthy. GOD care about us and wants us to believe in Him and put all our trust in Him. With God we can be saved.
“Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
all the remnant of the house of Israel,
who have been borne by me from before
carried from the womb;
even to your old age I am He,
and to gray hairs I will carry you,
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.” – Isaiah 46:3
GOD assures us of the promises He has made and will carry out. The promises of GOD are real and will be sustained by Him. We need to care about GOD and what He has promised to us. Likewise, we need to focus our love and care for our relationship with GOD.
Those that choose to follow idols will suffer the way that Babylon will suffer. The idolatry and sorcery of Babylon was great and likewise it is set to be destroyed by the true GOD. There is no way to survive if not by trusting in the true GOD of Israel. Every other nation that did not choose to follow GOD was destroyed. The Chaldeans, Babylonians, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Edomites, Philistines, and many other nations chose idolatry and were defeated. GOD remains.
