Paul’s Perseverance and Moses’ Choice

Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For

you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of GOD you

may receive what is promised. For,

‘Yet a little while,

and the coming one will come and will

not delay;

but my righteous one shall live by faith,

and if he shrinks back,

my soul has no pleasure in him.’

But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed,

but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.”

We can continue to have confidence even when it appears the most difficult. GOD shows and gives us the ability to be glad and joyful through Him alone even when the afflictions that we as Christians suffer daily by the constant attacks of the world, flesh, and evil. But the faith and the belief in our GOD and His promises must be kept through the adversities of life. There are many examples that we can follow to show us that GOD alone is faithful. Moses is a good example of what GOD promised and completed for GOD never forgets what He says.

“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his

parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were afraid

of the king’s edict. By faith, Moses, when he was grown up refused to be called

the Son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the

people of GOD than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the

reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was

looking to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of

king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible. By faith he kept the

Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the firstborn might

not touch them. By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the

Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned.”

Moses would not let the pursuit of pleasure lead him away from the call that GOD had made to Moses. What good would the pleasures of sin have to Moses once GOD was ready to judge. Moses understood that his belief in GOD superseded and was give priority over anything else in this life. What good would Moses have gained if he gained the world and forfeited his soul? So Moses decided to follow through faith the will of GOD and embarked on a journey that would cost him so much but would reward him with things that were not of this world. Through faith, we see that GOD rules on His throne in Heaven and that Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, and we know that all this is true. All this is true even without seeing it with our eyes because we walk by faith and not by sight. Through faith we can see that GOD is real, that His power is beyond human comprehension, and that GOD deserves all the Glory, Power, Dominion, Kingdom, and Praise for ever and ever. Amen.
