“Blessed be the LORD, the GOD of our fathers, who put such a thing as this into the heart of the king, to beautify the house of the LORD that is in Jerusalem, and who extended to me his steadfast love before the king and his counselors, and before all the king’s mighty officers. I took courage, for the hand of the LORD my GOD was on me, and I gathered leading men from Israel to go up with me.” – Ezra 7: 27-28

Ezra 7: 27-28 Bible Verse Commentary Audio

We see that Ezra is now commanded by the king to go and teach the people of Israel in Jerusalem concerning the Law of the LORD. We see that initially Ezra was writing down what had occurred during the return of the exiles during the proclamation to rebuild the great city and temple. We see that there is hope despite the difficulties, and we begin to see Ezra play a part in teaching of the Law of the LORD. We see Ezra being grateful to the LORD for being able to help in any way that he can as he blesses the LORD for being allowed to play an important role in the future of the great city.

We see this as an opportunity to see the love of GOD despite the previous difficulties that existed. There are times when difficulties arise and we do not know why they arise or what to do. Even through this we are to trust in GOD and know that He is doing all things for our good. We see that Ezra may have had difficulty writing during the times that the construction was being prevented from being constructed, but now we see that he continues to be able to teach in the great city.

We also see that the king praises the LORD and allows Ezra the possibility to take what is needed in order to accomplish the task of teaching the people in the great city. Not only is Ezra given an important task but is given the necessary supplies to begin helping the people know that GOD is on their side despite the many difficulties that they had gone through in the previous years. We see the restoration that can exist when we place our faith in GOD and continue to trust in His will.

We are reminded that GOD wants to have preachers and teachers speaking the word of GOD to His people. Whether in the Old Testament or New Testament we see the importance of being able to preach the good news and being able to preach the promises of GOD. Through His promises we have faith that everything will work out for our good. We see Ezra as a an individual that is able to preach the law and unite the people who had previously experienced many difficulties during their exile.
