We are able to see that Malachi attempts to tell the people the ways that they have not been faithful to GOD and the thinking that has led to them acting in this specific situation. Malachi wants them to change in order to obtain the blessings that GOD had promised them. Instead of continuing with faith and belief, they had turned and changed their ways by sinning and doing what they thought was better for themselves.

Malachi offers a solution to this and reminds them the importance of the commandments in guarding their minds and hearts for GOD. He tells them to remember the law of Moses, the statutes and rules that GOD commanded at Mt. Horeb also known as Mount Sinai. He is attempting to speak to them but is not able to see them learn or understand what he is saying. Malachi reminds them of the Ten Commandments in order for them to set their steps righteously and not fall into the thinking that leads astray.

Malachi also reminds them that GOD will protect those that believe in His goodness while those that do not He has apportioned a specific day. Malachi is attempting to show the people that there are specific actions that they can take in order to be saved from iniquity. We see throughout Malachi that the people talk back and question what Malachi states. We see that the people do not want to hear what Malachi is saying after difficult years in exile; however, Malachi tells them that they have the opportunity to change for good if they change their thinking, remember the commandments, and repent of their sins and evil actions.

Even after all this occurs, Malachi tells them that GOD gives them another chance by saying that He would send a prophet that would be similar to Elijah that would help Israel remember the steadfast love of GOD for His people. GOD wants people to change and to learn about the beauty of his grace. Even when the people are arguing and talking back to Malachi, Malachi continues preaching and describes the manner in which GOD is giving them an opportunity for salvation and renewal.
