So far we are able to see that John the Baptist is sent to tell the people to change their ways and be able to believe in the spirit of renewal through firm faith and following of the commandments. We see John the Baptist as a prophet who is telling the people to return to the LORD similar to the manner in which Solomon was told by GOD that if the “people return to me, I will return to them.” We are able to see this occur because those who believed John the Baptist were looking for the promise of salvation. It was not just the physical salvation but the spiritual salvation.

We read in Psalm 80: 18 that we need to have faith and call upon the name of GOD because He can give life and restore us. This is what GOD was doing when He sent the prophets and John the Baptist. Up to this point, the prophets were sent to prophesy about the need for repentance and faith and following the commandments. They were sent to turn the hearts of people towards GOD and help the people know the purpose of GOD. We know that we need to have faith and believe the promises of GOD.

In the next chapters of the Bible, we see that Jesus Christ is sent as a response to the people’s prayers. John the Baptist was sent to prepare the path of people in order to be ready for Jesus. People were having difficulty believing due to the circumstances that were happening all around. Even though there are circumstances, GOD tells us to completely pay attention to the word of GOD and to have faith. GOD answers His people’s prayers and it is seen through the manner in which He sends Jesus Christ to His people, giving them life, and allowing them to call His name.
