“Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them saying: ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’ ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.’ ‘ Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.’ ‘Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.’ ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.’ ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see GOD.’ ‘Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’ ‘Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.’” – Matthew 5: 2-11

We are able to the see the Sermon on the Mount which tells us the manner that Jesus Christ preached to his believers in reconciling the difficulties that existed in life and the spiritual blessings that GOD gives to those who trust in His word. While it may appear that there are difficulties that exist in the world, we know that GOD brought His only Son Jesus to die on the cross and resurrected him in three days in order to show us that we are able to acquire eternal life and that we are important to the kingdom of Heaven. We learn the differences that exist between those called blessed by GOD and the difficulties they have in the world.

Jesus called blessed the poor in spirit because they were of a contrite humble heart that allowed for their belief to be seen. This contrite heart allows us to see that GOD blesses and has given the kingdom of Heaven to those people. We see the people who mourn from life’s difficulties as those that will be comforted by GOD. We see the meek be blessed for their humble spirit. We see the people who want righteousness to exist in a world were righteousness is not always seen. We are reminded that GOD will provide for righteousness. We see that those who forgive others are also forgiven similar to the Our Father prayer.

While the previous blessings make sense from a moral and ethical point of view, we see that there is a difficulty in reconciling how those that are hated for righteousness sake are blessed according to world standards. Although this is difficult to understand, in the spiritual understanding from GOD we can see that those who have been reviled and persecuted for righteousness sake are blessed. This is because in similar manner, the Prophets were reviled and persecuted for following righteousness. We know that GOD is able to understand how while previous Prophets were reviled, they were blessed because they continued to preach the word of GOD.
