“Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6: 19-21

Matthew 6: 19-21 Bible Verse Audio Minute

We are told from Jesus that we are to place our desires and human desires away and place our treasures in Heaven. We are told of the importance of being able to pay attention to the things of GOD and not to the things of the earth. While there are many themes and topics that can cause us to pay attention to what is happening on earth, Jesus wants us to pay attention to what is Heavenly.

We are told that there are cares of the world that exist when we attempt to become worldly. We are to learn that Jesus wants us to place our emphasis on the word of GOD and following the commandments. While there are multiple things of the world that can have us pay attention, we are instructed to pay attention to the things that are of GOD.

There are several verses in the Bible that state of the importance of following the treasures of Heaven that occur when we continue to enhance our view towards the purpose of GOD. We are able to understand that GOD wants us to be content with our material goods and pay attention to the spiritual gifts and treasures that are created in Heaven when we follow the word of GOD.
