“in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed GOD with which I have been entrusted. I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invinsible, the only GOD, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” – 1 Timothy 11-17

Paul, the Apostle, was able to change his life completely after seeing Jesus Christ on his was to persecute Christians. Paul had learned to attack the Church because he was instructed in the ways of hate, intimation, and envy. Upon seeing Jesus Christ on the road to harass and attack Christians, Paul sees King Jesus Christ in a blinding bright light. Paul is unable to see and kneels to the authority of Jesus. Jesus asks Paul why he was persecuting him to which Paul asks who he was persecuting. Jesus tells Paul that he is persecuting Jesus when he persecutes Christians. To this Paul does what Jesus commands and begins preaching the word of GOD first attempting to preach to the Jewish population and then when they rejected the message towards the Gentiles in Asia and Spain.

We are able to learn that Paul changed very quickly his actions from someone who hated the early Church to someone who became a believer of Jesus Christ. Paul left everything behind in order to preach Jesus Christ and also allowed many individuals to convert to the faith. 1 Timothy gives a clear message about the belief that we have in Jesus Christ who died for our sins while He was pure and sinless. He bore the sins that the world has forever sinned since the beginning of time with the example of Cain and Abel to the last sin that will occur prior to the beginning of the destruction of the old Earth and old heaven and the creation of new earth and new Heaven when Jesus Christ will reign.

Paul addresses that he was probably one of the worst sinners for being able to persecute the Church but GOD’s grace and patience was greater. While sin attempts to get a hold of individuals, we are reminded that GOD’s redeeming power is greater. We are reminded that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners and to lead them to eternal life close to GOD. We are able to understand that Jesus Christ is the King that has conquered on the cross and has defeated sin and was resurrected on the third day.
